Residency & ELPR Office Updates

These updates are for UW Seattle current and prospective students only – for Spring 2020.

Advising Services

Effective Thursday, March 5, 2020, the Residency/ELPR Office transitioned all in-person appointments and drop-in office hours to virtual appointments only (Zoom meeting) until further notice. Zoom advising appointments are available Monday through Thursday from 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 4pm.

Students are strongly encouraged to check their email at least two hours prior to the appointment time for Zoom meeting information. Students may access their Zoom meeting by telephone or computer audio.

Student Privacy

Reminder to parents and third-party representative of a current or newly admitted UW student: Staff will be unable to discuss your student’s residency status or application with you due to federal and state privacy laws and office policy. Please have the student schedule the appointment. Additionally, the student must be present during the appointment.

Residency Application Submissions and Review Process

Residency applicants should note the following important changes to the application and document submission process.

  • Winter 2020 residency applicants submitting additional documents: Students should contact their residency counselor to coordinate online submission of documents prior to 5pm on Friday, March 20. Students must also submit hard copies of those documents to the Residency Office via postal mail, or preferred carrier, postmarked on or before March 20.
  • Spring 2020 applicants only: Applications and any supporting documents, in PDF or JPG format, must be submitted through the online submission tool. Students must also submit hard copies of those documents to the Residency Office via postal mail, or preferred carrier, postmarked on or before April 30. Additional documents should also be submitted online and by postal mail with a deadline of June 12, 2020.

    Spring 2020 Residency Application & Document Upload

  • Summer 2020 applicants: Applications for Summer 2020 are not currently being accepted. The application period will begin May 22, 2020, regardless of Full-Term, A-Term, or B-Term enrollment. Please check back for submission instructions at that time.

Document Requirements

In order to finalize the review of residency applications, hard copies of all documents submitted via the online submission tool must be received by the Residency Office by the respective deadline dates. Email acknowledgment of receipt of mailed documents may be delayed.
