Introduction to the International Student Services Office

The International Student Services (ISS) Office staff will help you understand the benefits and restrictions of the J-1 visa regulations, including:

  • Advising about J-1 benefits and restrictions
  • Navigating university policies as an exchange student
  • Updating your DS-2019
  • Answering travel and employment authorization questions
  • Providing educational tools, including workshops and tutorials

ISS Closure Notice

Due to campus closures related to COVID-19, all in-person services are temporarily suspended. Normally, the ISS Office’s doors are open on the following schedule:

  • Front desk hours: 10 am – 4 pm PST, Monday through Friday

The best way to get advice is by using our online tools.

There is a form on the ISS office homepage called Have a Question?

After you complete the Have a Question? form, you can expect the following within 2 business days:

  • An adviser will reply to your message or request. Typically, the reply will include links to helpful information on our website and other resources
  • If your inquiry requires an appointment, you will be sent a scheduling link
    • If you are sent a scheduling link, the advisor will recommend a 30-minute appointment.
