Things to Remember
Think of your CPT application as a contract
- You may engage in CPT only after your ISS adviser authorizes your request in SEVIS and issues you a new I-20.
- The CPT authorization is for specific dates of training/employment on your I-20. You may not begin your training/employment before the start date or continue after the end date.
- For optional CPT experiences, you must register for and earn the credit indicated on your application.
When to Notify ISS
- If you stop your position early. You will still be required to register for and earn CPT-related credit according to the application.
- If you have changes in your employment. Examples: not continuing on with your employment, new position, new work address, etc.
To contact an ISS adviser, complete the ‘Contact Us’ from on the ISS website.
