International Student Services Information Session

Welcome to the global community at the University of Washington! The staff of the International Student Services (ISS) office look foward to meeting you and assisting you throughout your studies at the UW.

This mandatory ISS Online Information Session is for students who will study in F-1 or J-1 status. If you are in another nonimmigrant category (H-4, E-2, etc.) and you are not planning to change to F-1 or J-1 status, you do not need to complete this session.

The Information Session will take about 20-30 minutes to complete. It is meant to provide you with the information necessary to have a great start to your study at the UW. It will also introduce you to the benefits and responsibilities of your future F-1 or J-1 visa status. The Information Session will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to the ISS Office
  • Introduction to F-1/J-1 student visa regulations
  • Registration information
  • New student arrival checklist

You do not need to print this information. When you arrive at the UW, this information will be given to you in a handout. The regulatory information is also available on the ISS website. After your completion of this online Information Session, the ISS registration hold will be removed within two business days.
