DARS for Students

Degree Audit Report System

The Degree Audit Report System (DARS) shows academic progress toward completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree in a student’s declared or proposed program of study. The progress is measured by how UW courses, transfer courses, and courses in progress apply toward degree requirements.

Grading Option Changes

Students may choose to have a numerically graded course graded as Satisfactory/Non-Satisfactory (S/NS). There are three different methods to change your grading option, and the one you will use depends on when you are wanting to make the change. Professional school students should check with their respective school registrar or adviser for details on S/NS grading options and verify if their program is participating in this process.

For more information on the S/NS grading option refer to Scholastic Regulations Chapter 110 Grades, Honors, and Scholarship.

You can change your courses to and from the Satisfactory/Not Satisfactory (S/NS) grading option up through the end of finals week/last week of the quarter.

S/NS graded courses do not count for degree or graduation requirements for undergraduate students unless the current quarter is an Extraordinary Circumstances Quarter. Graduate and professional students should consult with their advisers.

Dean’s Lists

The University of Washington recognizes students after each academic quarter and year for their high scholarship award and inclusion on the corresponding Dean’s List. A suitable and official notation of this achievement is recorded on the student’s University transcript. Students may also be eligible for other Baccalaureate Honors.

Dean’s Lists Criteria

Quarterly Dean’s List

To qualify for the quarterly Dean’s List, a student must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree and attain a quarterly GPA of 3.50 or higher in at least 12 graded credits.

Annual Dean’s List

To qualify for the Annual Dean’s List, a matriculated undergraduate student must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree and have achieved a quarterly GPA of 3.50 in 12 or more numerically graded credits each quarter for three quarters of the academic year (summer through spring).

Students enrolled for four quarters of the academic year (summer through spring) must satisfy the conditions previously outlined and attain a quarterly GPA of 3.50 or better in the fourth quarter, if enrolled for 10 or more credits.

Dean’s List Notations

The official University record that a student has qualified for the Quarterly or Annual Dean’s List is the notation on the student’s UW transcript.

Dean’s List Name

The student’s Quarterly or Annual Dean’s List Name does not have to match their Student Record Name. By submitting a Dean’s List Name request via the Dean’s List Name form, students can now have the name of their choice reflected on the corresponding Dean’s List Recipients listing.

Dean’s List Name requests must be submitted prior to the publication of Dean’s List Recipients. Students who do not provide their Quarterly or Annual Deans List Name via the form will have their Student Record Name posted on the corresponding Dean’s List Recipients listing.
