Dear University of Washington students,
Spring 2026 registration begins Thursday, February 12, 2026.
To get started with registration, review your academic plan for Spring 2026 and seek guidance from an adviser if you need assistance. Then, log in to Register.UW and complete your pre-registration steps before your registration start date.
Prepare for Registration
- Check the 2025-2026 Academic Calendar and view the Period I Registration Dates for Spring 2026.
- Gain a better understanding of the factors that determine your registration date.
- Pre-Registration: Complete your pre-registration steps on Register.UW. Pre-Registration starts February 5, 2026.
40% of students do not complete these steps before registration opens and experience delays. Plan ahead and complete these steps now!
- Tuition Balance: Check your tuition balance.
- Hold/Blocks: Verify that you do not have any registration blocks by checking Register.UW. A common cause of registration holds could be:
- Not meeting the Measles, Mumps, and Meningococcal (MMM) immunization requirements, and/or
- New students needing to complete the Husky Prevention & Response module.
- Grading Options: Review the three choices related to Grading Options for S/NS and Numeric Grading.
- Winter Courses: Need to make a change to your winter registration? Review the Registration Change Guide for Winter 2026.
Register.UW Updates
Beginning at midnight of your registration start date, you will be able to import previously planned sections from MyPlan, or add sections to your registration cart by SLN or course code on Register.UW.
- You will not be able to submit your registration until 6 a.m.
- When your registration begins, the register button will automatically appear and allow you to submit your registration.
- You can enter multiple SLNs by simply typing or copy/pasting them, using spaces or commas as separators.
Registration Periods
Your registration start date is calculated based on two factors:
- Class standing: Your class standing is determined by credits earned and in progress as of the Thursday before the first day of Period I registration.
- Priority status: Some students have a priority status for registration, which qualifies them for early priority registration due to Graduating Senior Priority (GSP), DRS accommodations, veteran status, ROTC, or NCAA athlete status.
Registration Period I – Continuing Students
Opens: February 12, 2026 at 6 a.m. PST of your designated registration start date.
Priority Registration and DRS Accommodations
Not all students who are registered with DRS have the priority registration accommodation. You can learn more about DRS Priority Registration eligibility at the DRS website or contact your DRS advisor for more information.
Registration Period II – New and Returning Students
Opens: March 2, 2026 at midnight PST. Newly admitted students register at 8:30 a.m. View the current quarter’s Registration Period II dates on the UW Academic Calendar.
Registration Period III – All Enrolled Students
Opens: March 30, 2026 at midnight PST. Registration Period III is from the first (1st) day of the quarter through the seventh (7th) calendar day of the quarter and is open to all students for adds and changes.
Registration Tampering Abuse Policy: Don’t buy, sell, trade, or hold spots in classes!
Know that buying, selling, trading, or holding open spots is a breach of the Registration Tampering Abuse Policy. Consequences include referral to the Student Code of Conduct process, a Registrar’s Hold on your record, and potential diploma withholding for graduating students until the conduct process is complete.
Critical: Required Husky Prevention & Response (Title IX) Student Course
Husky Prevention & Response is a course about preventing and responding to sex- and gender-based violence and harassment. New and returning (an absence of one quarter or more), first-year, transfer, graduate, and professional matriculated students are required to complete the 60–90 minute online student course.
Students Expecting to Graduate Next Quarter
Be sure to contact your adviser to submit your graduation application by the application deadline, which is the third week of each quarter.
Your diploma name does not have to match your UW student record name. Instead, you can have your diploma issued in the name of your choice by entering your information into the Diploma Name and Address form. This is also where you will put the address where you would like your diploma mailed. Students can submit this form more than once.
Students who do not submit their diploma name or mailing address through the designated form prior to their graduation date and/or diploma order will have their diplomas issued using their Student Record Name and delivered to their current mailing address.
Sincerely,
HELEN B. GARRETT, Ed.D., University Registrar
