The Residency Application process detailed on this webpage applies only to students at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Application Opens Date the Residency Application opens for submission for the given quarter.
Application Deadline
30th day of the quarter
No new applications are accepted after this date for the given quarter.
Parent Form Deadline
Two (2) weeks after the application deadline
Parents of financially dependent students must submit their Parent Form by this date.
Domicile Verification Deadline
Two (2) weeks after the application deadline
Schedule a Zoom appointment to verify domicile eligibility by this date.
Applies only to:

  • Financially dependent student (non-U.S. citizen)
  • Parent of a financially dependent student (non-U.S. citizen)
  • Financially independent student (non-U.S. citizen)
Review Begins When the Residency Team begins to review submitted applications for the given quarter.
Check Status Students may check their application status for the given quarter.
Additional Documents Deadline
One (1) week prior to the end of the quarter
Applications are considered incomplete if any requested supplemental documents are not submitted by this date.

Application Submission Process

  • University of Washington students may submit their residency application using the forms listed on this webpage.
  • University of Washington Bothell and University of Washington Tacoma students should submit residency paperwork directly to their respective campus Residency Offices.
  • Residency applications and documents must be submitted via the form that corresponds to the quarter of application.
  • Students applying using the Residency Questionnaire: Your application submission must include the fully completed and signed Questionnaire and all required documentation to begin a review. Review of the Financially Dependent Application cannot begin until the parent information is received.
  • Students applying using the Residency Affidavit: Your application submission must include the fully completed and signed Affidavit to begin a review.
  • Documents must be uploaded in the correct file format (PDF or JPG). All Word and Excel files must be converted to PDF before uploading.
  • All communications about your application status will be emailed to your UW email address [netid@uw.edu].
