Office of the University Registrar

Enrollment and Degree Verification

For Students:

Current (and some former) University of Washington students are able to receive a free, electronic certification of enrollment instantly via the National Student Clearinghouse by visiting the following link (must be logged in with your netID). You may also pick up a Certification of Enrollment at the Registration Office, 225 Schmitz Hall, Monday through Friday between 10 AM – 12 PM or 1 PM – 4 PM.

If the certification you receive from the National Student Clearinghouse does not contain sufficient information for the entity requesting proof of enrollment, you must email the Registration and Transcripts office at regoff@uw.edu to receive one. Please be sure to include:

  • Your name
  • Student ID #
  • Date of birth
  • Reason(s) why the certification from the Clearinghouse can not be used
  • Additional information that must be included in your new certification letter
  • Mailing or email address where you wish the certification letter be sent

Please note: The University of Washington only verifies enrollment once the quarter has begun. If you require a letter for scholarship or loan purposes to show that you are enrolled for a quarter that has not yet started, as long as you have already registered for courses for that future quarter, you may receive a Certification of Registration. This will show that you are pre-registered for a future quarter at UW. To receive this certification, please email the Registration and Transcripts office at regoff@uw.edu to receive one. Please be sure to include:

  • Your name
  • Student ID #
  • Date of birth
  • Mailing or email address where you wish the certification letter be sent

If you are a student who is newly admitted to UW, you will not be able to receive certification of your enrollment prior to the start of the quarter for which you have been admitted as the University of Washington only verifies enrollment once the quarter has begun.

  • If you require a letter for scholarship or loan purposes and have already registered for courses for your quarter of admittance, you may receive a Certification of Registration, which will show that you are pre-registered as a student at the University of Washington.
  • To receive this certification, please email the Registration and Transcripts office at regoff@uw.edu to receive one.
  • Please be sure to include your name, student ID #, date of birth and a mailing or email address where you wish the certification letter be sent

If you are a graduate of the University of Washington, you will not be able to receive a degree verification letter through the National Student Clearinghouse and must email the Registration and Transcripts office at regoff@uw.edu to receive one.

  • Please be sure to include your name, student ID #, date of birth and a mailing or email address where you wish the degree verification letter be sent.
  • You may also pick up a Certificate of Enrollment that has your degree information posted on it at the Registration Office, 225 Schmitz Hall, Monday through Friday between 10 AM – 12 PM or 1 PM – 4 PM
  • An Official Transcript can also be requested for degree verification purposes.

For Third Party Requestors:

The University of Washington does not verify degrees or enrollment for third parties via email or fax or mail. Please submit a request through the National Student Clearinghouse.
